                                        Chairman’s Message

We at the Pakistan Tobacco Board are encouraged by every individual who visits our website, as it reaffirms the growing interest—both locally and internationally—in Pakistani tobacco.

Established in 1968, the Pakistan Tobacco Board (PTB) was created to promote the cultivation, manufacturing, and export of tobacco and its products, along with overseeing pricing mechanisms, marketing strategies, and related information dissemination. In pursuit of these objectives, our qualified staff conducts field experiments at PTB Research Stations, ensuring evidence-based improvements and support for the industry.

Our foremost priority is to empower and support tobacco growers by providing knowledge through field days, workshops, and hands-on training at our Research Facilities and Model Farms. At the same time, we remain focused on enhancing Pakistan’s tobacco exports and strengthening its presence in global markets.

Pakistan produces approximately 137 million kilograms of tobacco annually. This vital crop sustains the livelihoods of nearly 80,000 farmers and supports around 50,000 workers in over 21 manufacturing facilities. Additionally, approximately 100,000 individuals are indirectly engaged in the trade and distribution of tobacco products. The sector significantly contributes to the national economy—generating approximately Rs. 237 billion through Federal Excise Duty (FED) in FY 2023–24, and earning US $164.79 million in exports during the fiscal year 2024–25 (as of March 2025).

In our efforts to explore new markets and foster global collaboration, PTB actively liaises with Pakistani embassies and entrepreneurs worldwide, and shares industry updates and insights through our bi-annual publication Pakistan Tobacco.

It is my unwavering commitment to further enhance the quality of Pakistani tobacco to boost its competitiveness in international markets. Our website features a “Contact Us” section to facilitate communication, and I warmly welcome all queries, suggestions, and requests for support.

Our enduring motto remains: Trusted by the Growers.
